A Present Santa Didn’t Ask For

santa.jpgI haven’t been to the Danbury Fair Mall in years, but if this is the kind of thing that goes on there, then I’ll continue to stay away. Sort of gives a whole new meaning to the concept of touch-feely lap dancing, holiday style. Maybe Santa was swayed by her crutches.

  1. Sounds like Santa was The Grinch in disguise.

  2. The way this was reported on the radio and tv was pretty pathetic. The woman was described as “feisty” and “full of Christmas spirit”. Imagine if it was a man doing this to Mrs. Claus. It would have been reported in sombre tones as an “assault” (which it was) and the perp would being charged with such (as would be proper). Instead it was all a big joke and the woman walked away free. Not dissimilar to the female teachers who rape their male students are treated. There is always an undertone of “boy wasn’t that kid lucky to get some”. Pathetic.

  4. Jake, the woman has not walked away free. She is being charged with sexual assault and breach of peace. And you could hardly say she walked away, as she was on crutches when the incident occurred. ;-)

  5. Yes, Fred. There is a Santa Claus and he is played by … Rudy (look for my next post).

Jake, you’re right in the sense that there is a double standard on these sorts of allegations against males/females. But, as Amy correctly points out, the woman is facing some serious charges.

On the other hand, don’t you think the situation with boys is a little bit different? When I was in 8th grade, if a teacher who looked like Debra Lafave had made a pass at me, my response would probably have been, “Wow!” And I can’t imagine that I would have been traumatized by the experience.

Even though the law can’t really discriminate between males and females on the issue of the age of consent, common sense tells me it shouldn’t be a one-size-fits-all approach.
