Communication Breakdown
August 21, 2007 on 12:32 pm | In Education |
It’s been quite a week in The Boston Globe for private schools. On Sunday, we had the sad story of two football recruits at Salisbury School (see post below).
Now another story has crossed my desk. Yesterday, The Globe ran a story based on an advance copy of a book about the crazy goings-on at Milton Academy.
The book, “Restless Virgins,” chronicles the lives of several students at Milton. It paints a picture of rampant and extreme sex and it comes in the wake of a string of scandals in recent years at the elite prep school just outside of Boston.
But there is evidence that the subjects interviewed for the book were misled about the nature of the project. Another “failure to communicate” of the kind that might have happened at Salisbury?

“The book, filled with such steamy scenarios, leaves the impression that many students at the highly selective prep school spend much of their time either engaging in casual sex or trying to.”
So what else is new? Sounds like things haven’t changed much in thirty years. The only difference is now we have bigger idiots deciding what gets published.

I guess what we don’t have here, is a failure to fornicate. There was a time when prep school was almost synonomous with all boys school. Cool Hand Luke was probably a popular nickname then.
Sorry. But you brought it up.

Very funny, Terry2.
Marshall, I don’t think this is entirely normal at these schools, but maybe I’m just showing my age.
Jake, Speak for yourself, Lothario. I certainly didn’t see these kinds of escapades going on to this degree when we were both students at one of Milton’s rival schools.
