To Gore An Ox
March 19, 2007 on 1:39 pm | In Global Warming, Main |I hate to beat a dead horse, but this piece is worth a read. Our old friend John Fund takes a hard look at AlGore’s dirty zinc mines, which contunued to operate even after he wrote “Earth in the Balance.”
He also notes that the NYT and Gore’s hometown newspaper have started to quote reputable scientists who question some of the more extreme and alarmist scenarios in Gore’s Academy Award winning film, An Inconventient Truth, as well as some of the those dubious “carbon offsets” he uses to rationalize his exorbitant energy use.

This is not a dead horse. It is education in the realities of this debate. It is so much easier to accept the algoreisms and accept their lies. No thought inolved, just smile and nod. True education requires that the information from both sides, including how the proponents actually “walk the walk,” or not.
Based on 2 minor examples, George Bush’s home and Al Gore’s home, Bush wins hands down. Of course, those that blame Bush for all the ills will say that he is protecting his corporate fat cat friends by ignoring algoreisms. But, the fact is that capitalism has brought us the advances we all take for granted. Capitalism, not the CLS, will solve the problems we face.
